For a free antivirus, Avast is well packed with great features. In addition to the expected real-time and on-demand virus scanning, it offers web and email protection, as well as a browser plug-in that warns you of potentially risky links. Dig into the settings and you’ll also find an optional “hardened mode”, which only allows running programs on a known whitelist.
The package also includes a secure standalone browser, but this does not open automatically when you visit a bank site. Includes a handy video downloader, which lets you grab copies of videos from YouTube and similar streaming sites (although not Netflix or similar).
The latest version adds nothing fundamental into the mix, but it does bring a new “Do Not Disturb” feature, which lets you specify which full screen apps should disable notifications.
The problem with Avast has always been the relentless upsell attempts to sell you a paid version. Fortunately, the annoying ads that used to pop up every time the software was updated are gone. In fact, the entire interface is simpler than it once was than what’s actually included in the free suite, with premium features shown with a small orange padlock next to their icons.
We were also a little annoyed to find that when you run a scan, the software now doesn’t just look for malware, it also reports concerns about “performance issues” and invites you to shell out €47.99 a year for Avast’s commercial clean-up software to remedy these performance problems. You can disable this feature from the settings page, but making it default is quite annoying (it doesn’t happen with others antivirus software recensiti).
VISIT THE SITEHowever, when it comes to performance, Avast has rarely disappointed, and the latest tests confirm that its malware detection capabilities are still top notch. Its overall false positive rate is hard to beat, with just Bitdefender, and Kaspersky it was possible to do better. Avast is also lightweight: AV-Comparatives found the package to be “fast” when installing new applications and running them for the first time, and “very fast” for everything else.
If you are looking for a product reliable and free antivirus, Avast is worth a test. In fact, if you want a decent antivirus program with various functions to interact with, Avast is probably a great choice. 5 September 2019 at 08:59A nice antivirus, complete and performing… in the paid version!
Helpful Review 1I found the free version a bit “lightweight” and moreover, as also mentioned in the review, it really annoys you with advertising to make you switch to the paid version.
3 stars for the free version, 5 for the paid one.

27 August 2019 at 14:49Hi, great review!
Helpful Review 1I’ve been using it for a few months and it’s probably the best antivirus on the market. One thing I noticed compared to others I had before is that it does not burden the computer and promptly blocks all threats.
Every now and then it reports suspicious files to me where there aren’t any but all in all caution is better than a missed report!
